Dear Reader,
This is new to me, writing a story in blog fashion; so, I'm not quite sure how it will work. I'm also sure I'm not the only one to think of such a thing (I should look it up to be sure), but I did make up the SIP term, specifically. Yeah, me! I invented something, finally...Can I copyright it? Not that anyone wants it...The process of copywriting, in of itself, implies that other people would actually want to use what you invented. I'm positive that is not the case here, but I'm still giving myself the preverbal pat on the back for doing something different today...pat, pat.
Anyway, I digress, as they say. In my mind, the SIP process works like this...I write the novel piece by piece while others follow and share their thoughts. Thereby being part of the creative process. They have the opportunity to influence the story and characters by sharing their ideas. Also, they can act as an editor; catching and modifying mistakes and/or confusing sentences.
In my ideal, another great american, contempary novel can be written in this fashion. I mean, imagine what could have been with StarWars 1, 2, 3 if Lucas had listened to some of his fan base. Right?
Great ideas are everywhere, and I know that with the spark from others, perhaps something better than my own talent can be created. In reality, perhaps something even a little bit good; maybe something even a bit more than that...But I'm just dreaming big here.
At the very least, this is a fun way to keep up with my hobby of writing. Who knows, maybe I'll even finish the story that's been sitting around in my brain for a good 10 years now.
I hope you enjoy this first SIP novel. I look forward to your comments and ideas!
Sincerely,
Marcella
